Peter Gabriel, the former legendary Genesis frontman and Real World Music founder has launched a new site called The Filter that helps users sift through new and old music and films to suggest recommendations for other artists, or movies that might be of interest.
Users who visit the sight fill out a questionnaire about tastes and genres of music and film so that the data base can then forward other suggestions. Ideal for those that don’t have the time, or a too lazy to do their own research but want to keep in touch with what is going on.
Gabriel lists folk guitar singer songwriter Nick Drake and avant guard Radiohead on his Filter page. This is Gabriel’s third online venture, he previously set up Real World Music and he co-founded the British music distributor OnDemand Distribution (OD2) which was sold to a Seattle company for millions in 2004.
The 58-year old prog-rocker has also been working on a site called TheMemory.com which is the “first social networking site for the dead,” I kid you not, it is a digital gathering place to remember loved ones that have passed on to greener pastures, and no, it is not a ‘Dead-head’ fan site.
