An Austin entrepreneur plans to turn a parent’s struggle to keep up with baby gear into a new Web-based business.
Jeff Chambers, the founder of two technology companies, has launched Babyslist Inc. The venture is designed to help parents save money with an online marketplace for parents to swap, buy and sell used baby-related items from others in their area.
Chambers — previously director of U.S. products at Austin-based HomeAway Inc., an online vacation property listing — developed Babyslist after shopping with his wife for clothes and supplies for their infant daughter.
“Seeing the sheer amount of items we needed, I was like, ‘There has to be a better way to deal with this,’” Chambers said.
